What is homeopathy?
Homeopathy is a complete system of evidence-based, non-toxic, holistic medicine which was developed over 200 years ago. Homeopathy works with your body, to gently yet effectively stimulate its own inherent healing resources with the aim of relieving the symptoms of disease in the short term and encouraging increased resilience in the long-term.
What are the benefits of homeopathy?
・eco-friendly & low carbon footprint

・can be used at all ages
Does it work?
There is growing positive scientific evidence for homeopathy.
Who uses homeopathy?
Homeopathy is the second most widely used form of medicine in the world.
As a system of non-toxic medicine it is increasingly appealing to many people as we live our lives surrounded by an ever growing number of pollutants, pesticides, steroids, parabens, sulphates and other unwelcome visitors.
I have personally been consulted by GPs, grandmothers, breastfeeding Mums, teenagers, workaholics, newborn babies, high-fliers, research scientists, toddlers, fathers, stressed-out City workers and many others at all life stages and of all ages.
I am consulted for both chronic and acute illness. Some clients have consulted me with chronic conditions such as depression, mania, insomnia, PMS, IBS, arthritis, Lupus, PCOS, bi-polar, hay fever, allergies, eczema and migraines - all illnesses that may have dogged them for months or even years. Other clients have consulted me after having developed an acute illness that has stopped them in their tracks in the last few days or weeks - such as food poisoning, chickenpox, tonsillitis, flu, ear and eye and chest infections, cystitis, broken bones or mastitis.
Women who want to become a mum and are looking for help conceiving naturally have come to see me.
Pregnant women who are suffering with common complaints of pregnancy such as morning sickness, round ligament pain, backache, itching skin, swollen ankles, indigestion, heartburn, restless legs, urinary tract complaints and haemorrhoids, as well as anxiety around childbirth, have consulted me. I also loan out homeopathic childbirth kits to pregnant women who are looking to have a childbirth without medical intervention.
Many parents have consulted me who would like to help their child live free from long-term medication with potentially unwelcome side-effects, with issues such as anxiety, ADHD, bedwetting, sleeping-walking, nightmares, eczema, colic, acid reflux, constipation, diarrhoea, nosebleeds and recurrent infections.
However, I see every patient as an individual - not as a condition or disease and I don't treat specific disease labels. I take time to consider your unique symptoms, considering each symptom as part of your whole picture. Homeopathy as a system of medicine is designed to treat the whole person and can therefore be considered in almost any situation in which a person's health is depleted. This is one of the main differences between conventional and homeopathic treatment: if a client consulted me with arthritis, tachycardia and sleep apnoea for example I would not see a collection of disease labels, but the person as a whole and may prescribe one carefully chosen remedy which has all of these symptoms in its picture. In contrast, your GP may refer you to various specialists and suggest a number of different drugs for each condition.
Homeopathy is used as an alternative to conventional treatment by a small minority, but for the majority of people it is used complementary to it and can be used alongside conventional medicine safely. I actively encourage an integrated approach with other healthcare practitioners, conventional and complementary, and an open and ongoing dialogue with your GP, or other primary healthcare practitioner. I never encourage clients to stop taking their conventional medications without discussing this with their prescribing practitioner.
How does it work?
Hippocrates "the father of medicine" in the 5th century BC said that there are two ways to cure disease - by contraries, or similars. Conventional medicine is the way of contraries, or opposites, which works on the principle that if the body produces a symptom then the standard course of treatment should be to suppress or antidote that symptom; such as providing a laxative for constipation. Whereas homeopathy is the way of similars: it works on the principle of treating "like with like" or plainly speaking, that any substance which is capable of causing symptoms in a healthy person can, in the form of a homeopathic remedy, cure similar symptoms in a sick person.
What medicine will I be given?
Homeopathic medicines, known as remedies, are non-toxic, without unpleasant and unwanted side-effects, and are non-addictive. They are derived from natural sources.
Each homeopathic remedy, has its own "symptom picture" described in detail in the homeopathic materia medica. This picture is a description of the symptoms the original substance has the ability to produce in a healthy person, and therefore the symptoms the homeopathic remedy, made from this substance, has the ability to relieve in a sick person. When deciding which remedy to prescribe (from more than 3000 in the homeopathic materia medica) I would consider your physical, mental and emotional symptoms as a whole, to provide a more complete, or holistic picture, and match your symptom picture most closely to the symptom picture of a remedy.
Homeopathic remedies are usually given in the form of a small, sucrose pillule, or occasionally in liquid form.
Homeopaths consider symptoms to be an indication of a dis-ease, dis-equilibrium or disharmony in our innate healing system, not the disease itself. Homeopaths use symptoms as signposts to determine the most appropriate, and similar remedy, to relieve this disharmony which will in turn relieve symptoms.
